Installing an S4 Open appliance, in place of the broken controller, will reestablish communication between the system operator and the field devices. Furthermore, the S4 Open appliance provides open, standards-based, protocol interfaces such as OPC and BACnet. This feature allows the building owner and/or management to continue to utilize existing building automation infrastructure while providing a path for migrating to a modern platform, catering to future requirements and meeting the demands of current technology.
